“I recommend the underclassmen to appreciate every moment they have with their friends, during practice, class, or anywhere! It doesn’t matter really because one day we won’t be having moments with them and it sucks not being with your friends /: Also, I hope they have fun and enjoy the high school experience but at the same time be aware of grades and making sure they’re good because it's important for your future!”

“Try not to procrastinate and if you do, make sure to be smart about it by prioritizing the important assignments you need to get done. Push yourself to do your best but make sure to know your limits and take care of your mental health when necessary.“

"To the overachieving students, PLEASE don't take an AP class for a subject you are not passionate about! If you don't plan to be a science major don't take AP Bio or Chem. Consider Rio Hondo classes instead of APUSH. There are so many other ways of completing your education, don't let your path be decided by others."

“Avoid taking stressful classes your senior year so you’re not stressed.”

“Don't be afraid of going to ask for help from your teachers, just do it. Also, take part in clubs, you'll meet new friends”

“Listen to your teachers and don’t be afraid to ask questions because your teachers want you to succeed; don’t fall behind on assignments, complete them on time. YOU CAN DO IT! #Bluepride”

“Take a lot of dual enrollment classes at Rio Hondo, and don’t take AP classes that won’t relate to your major. Don’t only focus on your studies; you need to be more diverse. Join clubs and sports and most importantly don’t stress yourself over school have fun :)”

“I think underclassmen should stay on top of their schoolwork but they should also attend school events and make a lot of memories while they can. Also, they shouldn’t take going to school or even going to the school events for granted because it can easily be taken from them like it was for us seniors ):”

“Good luck on your high school journey! make sure to give it your all every year and make many memories, never skip out on any school event, go to all the football games/sports events you can. Highschool seems long but time goes by fast. All I can truly say is make highschool the best 4 years of your life!”

“Although it’s so tempting not to do your homework and slack off, don't do it because you will regret it later. Work hard when you’re an underclassman so when you’re a senior things won’t be as hard.”
Picture
“Take Rio Hondo classes if you can to get ahead of your credits, take the chance. Get to know your counselor because they can help you more than you think.”

“AP classes don’t need to be taken just because others are taking them. Make sure to participate and have fun because you're gonna end up regretting not doing it.”
“Meet with your counselors often and don’t be afraid of the college and career center because it scared me and I barely walked in for the first time this year and now I still don’t even know what college is. Also they should join clubs and sports cuz you meet homies.”
“Focus on school, enjoy, participate, and attend every event. Have fun while it lasts because it goes by really fast.”

“Some advice I have is not to take time for granted because time really flies so enjoy every moment. Also to be yourself, be confident, and know that it’s okay to make mistakes.”
“Probably they should take multiple AP classes. Even though it might be hard to balance the work, it's worth it in the end.”
“Some advice that got me through my four years that I always managed to keep in the back of my mind was to keep your goals and aspirations as your source of motivation and to always keep on going regardless of the small failures. At one point or another, you will come upon people trying to tell you otherwise on what you want to do, but as long you are doing what you love it shouldn’t matter what they say. Do you always.”

“My advice to the underclassmen is to try your best and never give up. If you want to try something or set a goal for yourself, do it. Do it and give it your best effort. Enjoy it and never give up because even if it's not going as you planned, before you know it you're doing something you never believed you were capable of. Everyone has the potential to achieve their goals but only those willing to put in the work will get it done. Don't do things just because your friends want to, do them because you want to. When classes get challenging or sports get difficult take a step back, breathe, and remind yourself what you can do. Failure, challenges, and doubt are inevitable but you control how you react to these things. Give everything your best so you don't regret it later and never give up because life goes on so keep moving forward. With that being said as you move forward in high school light that fire up under you and let it motivate you to be who you want to be. Good luck and have fun!”

“Some advice I would give to underclassmen is to not be afraid to branch out. Open up to people because they might be the ones who will be by your side through thick and thin in high school. Only take classes that you are actually interested in, because if you don’t you will be miserable the whole year. Build close relationships with teachers and staff on campus. I began to do this my junior year and it made my last couple of years memorable. But most importantly enjoy all the moments high school has to offer, make them last, and make them memorable.”
