Day 1
Teen read week kicked off with its first event, Monday, March 2, 2020, with students having the chance to read books in the library to dogs. Year after year, reading to the therapy dogs has become one of the more popular events planned for this annual week in the school year. The library had a full house throughout lunch and led this week’s first event to success!
Day 2
The Get Lit Organization brought to El Rancho by Mrs. Metaxas has made their annual visit for the 2019-2020 school year. Students could listen to poets from the organization and El Rancho’s creative writing team. After the performance, some students in the audience even felt brave enough to volunteer to perform their work to their classmates.
Day 3
Our third spirit day of the week was Libros on the Lawn. Students were welcomed to bring chairs, blankets, and their favorite book to read. Ms. Metaxas also handed out snacks to those who participated during lunch or their class period. During lunch, Mr. Sorenson was seen reading under the tree in the quad along with some of his students.
Day 4
Poetry In the Library was a hit! Students were allowed to pick from three poetry stations: Blackout Poetry, Magnet Poetry, and Watercolor Haikus. Teachers signed up their classes if they wanted to attend. Students were able to express their creativity and involve themselves in Teen Read Week. Poetry will be put up for display in the library!
